LUNAR ECLIPSE
September 10th, 2007We have recently experienced a lunar eclipse (August 28th) accompanied by an astrological configuration titled a grand square - a literal square formed by at least four planets at 90 angles to one another. It’s a rare configuration denoting a high level of stress in the individual or moment in whose chart it appears. Many of us have felt a little off-balance as a result. I’ve heard the terms “stalled” and “ungrounded” from clients and friends. While the planets don’t cause these feelings, they do show us what’s going on in the collective, and we’re all far more affected by (and contribute more to) the collective than we realize. This particular time of stress and release will be with us through the third week of September 2007.
The earth is just as affected as we are as individuals. Again, the oft-repeated phrase: we are all part of the whole, we are all connected. The current tension is showing up in the earth as intense storms and an increase in the predicted earth changes; and in humans as an increase in fear, emotional volatility, and violence. The astrological configurations can always serve as an alert system, telling us to pay attention to ones inner knowing during these times of heightened tension. We can absolutely transmute the energy by working on ourselves. One way of working with this energy is to transmute it through our practices: yoga and pilates classes involve a combination of increasing and releasing tension both physically and mentally/emotionally. If we undertake any practice with the thought of working with the earth as well as working on ourselves this “in-tension” can help us all calm down and center. If we humans live in harmony with one another and with our environment we’ll see a radical decrease in the issues that we consider problems.
I also think it’s vital to be cognizant of the needs of all the creatures around us: leave water and food for the animals and trees during times of drought, and rescue animals that have been stranded and abandoned. There are so many beautiful stories of animal (and people) rescue following Katrina. And while it’s important to address the criminal actions of the government and insurance companies, it’s vital to acknowledge our power to make a difference on the personal level. We’ve also become more aware of inter-species communication/tolerance/love over the past few years, and the biblical prophecy of the lion lying down with the lamb feels very current. Many of you share emails with photos of a variety of animals sleeping together and raising young of another species despite a history of being perceived as enemies. I believe these stories are the other side of the canary in the coal mine story. Canaries used to be sent into the mines to see if the air was safe for miners to breathe. If the canaries died, the air was considered too toxic for human consumption. (I think human miners are now serving as the canaries - sacrifing themselves as a message to the world that we cannot keep destroying the earth and environment in this way.) And as the other side of the canary coin, these stories of inter-species tolerance let us know what our potential future is - a future of tolerance, love, and support for one another.
As a sensitive I know that I, and others like me, feel/sense/see things before the majority of the human population does (see previous newsletters). This connection to animals and nature is where I’ve received most of my information. This has been true since I was a little girl and spent most of my time on my own in the woods and fields. Nature and animals know how to inter-relate and how to adapt, even if that adaptation looks like a death at times. If you pay attention to animal migration, for instance, you will know when to leave an area. Protect them and let them be your guides.
