QUANTUM LEAPING
May 11th, 2008The most important characteristic of the Eastern world view - one could almost say the essence of it - is the awareness of the unity and mutual interrelation of all things and events, the experience of all phenomena in the world as manifestations of a basic oneness. All things are seen as interdependent and inseparable parts of this cosmic whole; as different manifestations of the same ultimate reality. … The Eastern mystics see the universe as an inseparable web, whose interconnections are dynamic and not static. The cosmic web is alive; it moves and grows and changes continually. Modern physics, too, has come to conceive of the universe as such a web of relations and, like Eastern mysticism, has recognized that this web is intrinsically dynamic.
(Fritjof Capra, The Tao of Physics)
Our universe is in such a rapid state of flux and expansion that new galaxies and planets are being discovered on an increasingly frequent basis. It is now thought that our galaxy is moving through the Milky Way rather than being anchored inside it. There is confusion in the scientific community as to how to define a planet – the definition of planet determines whether or not they consider Pluto one of our planets – and if Pluto is included then evidently there are twenty more that qualify. I find it interesting that these discoveries are going on as Pluto has passed through the center of the Milky Way (27 Sagittarius). This is a perfect example of synchronicity, or acausal connection. According to current thinking there is a black hole at the center of every major galaxy and there are at least 100 billion known galaxies. The black hole at the center of our galaxy is ten times the physical size of our sun and we are rotating around it and will eventually disappear into it. We are making a quantum leap in knowledge and awareness and the outer planets in our tiny little solar system are the bridge to making that quantum leap.
Before the advent of the telescope only mystics and highly intuitive scientists were aware that there were planets beyond the scope of the human eye. The telescope allowed us to view the outer reaches of our solar system and led to the discovery of the planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, all of whom correlate with collective, rather than personal, subjective, awareness. When viewed as gods each of these planets has meaning that corresponds with the circumstances of their discoveries. Scientists have models for how all of the inner planets evolved but can’t do the same for Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. An understanding of mythology is the best way to understand the impact of our astrological make-up. And we are now in a time when we are moving quickly beyond the personal to the collective and beyond.
There have always been people who believed there was life on other planets and in other star systems and there have been many people who attest to having contact with these other star systems. Because our scientific measuring instruments have been limited in scope, scientific theory and knowledge has been correspondingly limited. Just as the world was known to be flat and the sun was known to circle the earth, there have been many scientific myths in our era that were limited. I think one of the major shifts we are seeing in this time of exploding awareness is the coming together of science and spirituality. Both faith and science are a search for meaning, one more intuitive/right brain, the other more logical/left brain. Much as the double strands of the DNA code support one another, so can the realms of science and faith. One of my visions from the mid-80’s involved the growth of a third hemisphere in our brain, linking the other two and I think we’ll see this growth in our lifetime in both a literal and metaphorical sense.
Back to Pluto having spent 2007 at the center of the Milky Way. Pluto as a god and as a planet correlates perfectly with the black hole. As you approach what’s called the event horizon of the black hole you are sucked over the edge into a whirling vortex. This is the very same thing one experiences when under the spell (by transit) of this planet/god. It can be likened to a fatal attraction as in the moth to the flame. We keep peering into the darkness until we’re pulled over the edge. In a lecture I attended in the 80’s this process was referred to as noodlization – as we go over the event horizon our mindbody is stretched out until it is infinitesimally long and spins until it reaches what is called the singularity point where it is condensed. From the perspective of the human eye the person/planet/star disappearing into a black hole is gone forever, but I believe it’s truly a metamorphosis, a rebirth. I think before long our measuring instruments will show that when a galaxy/planet/star/matter in any form “disappears” in such a way that it is truly being spit out the other side of the singularity point. Itzhak Bentov gives a beautiful description of this process in his book “On the Mechanics of Creation” published in 1988. When you look at satellite photos taken of galaxies circling black holes and approaching one another they appear to be moving into a spiral dance with one another until they disappear. This is going on constantly all around us while we’re watching television and reading and going about our daily business.
These thoughts have been of particular interest to me at this time of year with the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection. I think our growing awareness of universes, galaxies, suns and planets beyond our own will open us up to the possibility of life beyond our own, as well as to the process of alternate realities: death and rebirth as a form of resurrection, even the possibility of literal resurrection of what’s called the “light body.” We might see a renewed interest in UFO/ET experiences and in altered states of awareness. This interest has always been there but people who shared their experiences and thoughts have often been marginalized. My hunch is we’re going to be more willing to listen, as the scientists develop measuring instruments that support these experiences. I also believe that as scientists learn more they will come to a belief in God.
The universe is now thought to be at least 73 percent dark energy, an unknown force that is currently being referred to as the field, or the cosmic web that Capra speaks of. I have seen this web and I have played in it. When people read books like “The Secret” and practice stating their intentions they are attempting to influence the web/field in their favor. My approach is to go out there and surf and take people along with me when they need support. One way to connect with the field is through meditation and activities that put us in a meditative state such as yoga and walks in nature. My concern with people impacting the web/field with intentions is that it will become more and more chaotic much like our highways. I prefer an approach that slows down our brain waves so we can ride the wave and be in tune with it. Many of us have experienced altered states of awareness. These usually come when we’re silent and practicing sensory deprivation rather than when our left brains are active. One way to keep ourselves, and this planet and this vast web intact is to listen to harmonious music. Another is to practice yoga. Another is to meditate, which can be as simple as slowing down long enough to take three deep breaths. I often recommend that clients take these breaths whenever they’re in transition – from the car to the house, from the house to the car, even from one room to another. Little reminders throughout the day add up.
