Fall 2001
September 7th, 2001It’s All Done With Mirrors
We’ve made it through the Saturn-Pluto opposition, a time that could easily be considered “a darkest hour” and the energy will shift dramatically and quickly. Much of what I’ve learned, and many of the predictions I’ve made, have come through the dream state; and I had an interesting one in May. It took place at a long conference table in a huge, very elegant conference room with high ceilings.
The location was Washington D.C., and the President (generic) was conferring with two advisers. There were very long floor to ceiling windows at the far end of the table, facing out over the lawn. At that end of the table J. Edgar Hoover sat, snuggling with and kissing his male lover. My interpretation of this dream is that secrets are truly coming to light. I’ve been saying since the mid-80’s that we need to live as if we have no secrets, as if all our thoughts can be read. Technology is definitely moving in this direction with computers providing instantaneous information and communication, with cell-phones now available that are the size of matchbooks, with computer chips being implanted into human beings, and with satellites able to read license plates from four hundred miles in space. The outing of secrets applies to corporations and individuals. Witness the collapse of numerous large corporations around the world as a result of unethical accounting practices that have come to light. Hopefully we have encountered the same sort of thing in our personal lives, in bringing our shadow material (things we might even keep secret from ourselves) into the light.
For those who want reading material related to how the shadow is formed in the family I recommend reading Alice Miller’s books. And if you want the “lighter” version, any of John Bradshaw’s books on the family are useful. He does a wonderful job of bringing together the work of numerous therapists and making it accessible to the lay public. And Alice Miller makes a very good case for the reflection of family life in society, as in It’s All Done With Mirrors. She posits that Nazi Germany would not have been possible without an emotionally abusive, authoritarian patriarchal family structure. A structure that is currently in its death throes. I believe we’re in the midst of a healing crisis as a culture as well as on an individual basis. And the current planetary alignments will support the speeding up of this healing crisis. With Jupiter (in personal Leo) supporting (trining) Pluto (in social/political Sagittarius) over the next year, we will see a reorganization of political/social and cultural institutions in a way that is much more supportive of human beings world-wide. For instance, most of the “developed” world has joined the International Criminal Court (ICC). I believe the US will do so with the next administration. Healthy change will also be supported by a trine (120 degrees) be-tween Saturn in Cancer and Uranus in Pisces, into 2004, allowing us to build on our pasts while making seemingly radical changes that do not have to be disruptive.
If we’re experiencing fear about personal change, or what we see in “the outer world” we might continue to focus on letting go of beliefs and behaviors that we’ve outgrown, or that we know are no longer healthy for us, eliminating toxic thoughts and feelings such as judgment and fear. One way to accomplish this on the physical level is through a series of colonics. It’s actually a good idea to do the liver cleanse every spring and a series of colonics every fall. And if our bodies are extremely toxic, from years of drug or alcohol or even prescription drug abuse, it might be useful to do the colonics more often. There are many practitioners available in most cities at this point. This will assist in speeding up the process, in order to take advantage of this wonderful shift in energy.
We’ve heard the expression the Aquarian Age since the 60’s and I believe it’s here. There’s no clear date for the passage from one age to the next. But the Mayan calendar says the Old World ends in the year 2012, and archaeologists have sometimes dated the change in ages through a change in architecture. This new age is likely to emphasize circular rather than linear forms. Buckminster Fuller would have been one of the first to do this with his geodesic domes. I imagine we’ll see more circular tables which support a more egalitarian form of meeting and planning, as opposed to having the most powerful person at the “head” of the table. And the feminine will come to be revalued after years of being denigrated (as in Taliban rules keeping women in their houses, and the covering of the female form by our Attorney General). These actions are examples of unbalanced societies in their healing crisis. It’s encouraging to see how quickly women have come out of their homes and are being supported in their bids for political office in Afghanistan. And the trick will be to find a balance, something we need on the individual as well as cultural level. Indeed, it can’t happen in one arena without happening in the other.
The whole world should be one humanity: no fanaticism, no racism, no nationalism. Then, for the first time we can drop wars. We can make life worth living, worth enjoying, playful, meditative, creative; and give every man and woman equal opportunity to grow and bring their potential to flower.
