Transits & Progressions
May 23rd, 2005Transits and progressions are astrological parlance for the mathematical relationship between the current positions of the planets and the placement of those same planets at the time and place of an individual’s birth (the natal chart).
People often dread the affects of some of the “harder” planets: Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn. Yet these planets force us to grow at an accelerated rate, and in directions we might never have considered, had we not been prodded into the growth process.
When an outer planet interacts with aspects of our natal chart, our soul speaks in the language of that planet. The soul will speak as yearnings, perhaps as crying for no apparent reason, as visceral dreams that we can’t shake, or as synchronicities (sometimes referred to as meaningful coincidences).
Should we not heed the soul’s voice we may experience physical or mental symptoms, or have an emotional or spiritual crisis. If we ignore these symptoms we may find that traumatic events force us to take action. Eventually, we will “get the message” and will resolve the tension through appropriate action.
A reading of the mythology of the planets, especially at the time of their active transit or progression, can be immensely helpful in understanding and preparing for the necessary changes.
