One way to contribute to a sense of community is to support like-minded individuals and businesses. Since the 1950’s our economy/society has focused on profit and growth. As a result we have traded quality of product and service for convenience and lower prices. This has taken money out of our communities and concentrated wealth (and decision-making power) in the hands of the few. Treeless strip malls with Walgreens, Targets, and Borders, etc. make every community look the same and ultimately impoverish us all.
